George Baxter, Head of Finance at Plus Finance, had a weekend of fame and rain last month at the 2014 Prudential RideLondon – Surrey, a world-class festival of cycling which took place over the weekend of 9th & 10th August.
On the Thursday before, he and his seven-year-old twins Max and Frankie met former England rugby captain Martin Johnson at the Prudential RideLondon Cycling Show at ExCeL. Martin was there to officially open the Show and collect his own rider number. Click here for full article
Sunday was the ride itself which George had been in training for over the previous few months. Despite difficult weather conditions, more than 20,000 amateur riders completed the route through the roads of central London and Surrey.
“I was very impressed that so many riders braved the wind and rain” said George “it was a fantastic cycling day and my first ride on closed roads” he continued.
On the day weather conditions forced the organisers to shorten the 100-mile route by 14 miles, cutting out the potentially treacherous climbs up and down Box Hill and Leith Hill. This didn’t dampen spirits and George completed the ride in 5 hours 9 minutes.
Well done George !
